This isn't good for great cities. Why? New York has always been a top tier city. If you can make it there, you can make it anywhere, so of course other cities are going to pick up the losers. This is also true to a lesser extent for Boston, DC, Philly, and Chicago. It is bad news for rust belt cities like Hartford and Albany because they are neither top tier, nor have any of the advantages of the sunbelt. |

But Hartford and Albany each have a major captive employer who can't move anywhere else. :)Not ideal, but it keeps them from deteriorating too far. But of course there are plenty of other examples to use that don't have their advantage. |

Pittsburgh, a big name "rust belt "city lost over 2.5% of its population since 2020. This town has a few nice sections and a beautiful ballpark where the Pirates play (doing surprisingly well these days). Out side of that, it looks like a gritty dump whose glory years are in the past. |

Hartford is rather poor because it is very small geographically, about 17 square miles, so for the most part only the poorer neighborhoods are within city limits. If it were more normally sized it would include much more affluent areas that now are in the suburbs. |

These grads who go to Tampa, will find out fast how bad the public schools are if they have kids. And they'll find out how unforgiving the sun is. Florida is a great vacation destination. But to live in Florida year-round, you'll find out how fast how bad the sun is for you. |

Every time I have to suffer through heat and humidity, I take comfort in the fact that "at least it can't snow."You don't have to shovel humidity. You can't slip and fall on humidity. |

It's not for everyone but I feel like the weather where I live near the coast in Southern California is hard to beat. It doesn't snow, the humidity is generally low, and it gets above 90F maybe 2 days per year. It gets above 85F maybe 5-7 days per year. Typical winter weather is a high of 66 and a low of 50 and typical summer weather is a high of 75 and a low of 62. |

I listen to his opening radio segment about twice a week. All he talks about is Florida and snow. Yes, his former hometown of NY got slammed this winter. But no one is NY is still talking about. Snow is long gone. Hannity is still talking about it. For a lot of Florida people, their identity is that they no longer deal with snow. It's all they got in their lives. I will post more about Florida later. |

Hannity is just trying to justify/rationalize moving to Florida, whining like a little weenie about the cold and snow. The real reason is to dodge taxes on his $100+million annual salary.Cant say I blame him. Nothing illegal about his move. Just try to be honest about it. Limbaugh did the same thing. |

Limbaugh said when he moved from NYC to Florida, he was audited by NY State every single year. But Hannity is so shallow as a person. Talking about the snow that is long gone. I read Limbaugh's book. It was pretty good. He wrote about moving to NYC because it's a media center and the number one market in the country. He also wrote about having dinner with Maureen Dowd. He also wrote that he got no respect as a media personality |
