Then, after 3 hrs of drinking, eat more, then a few hours after that, eat more. I figure I'm out partying for 10-12 hrs usually. After the first party, I wind up at my friend's bar in Midtown. |

It was once said of a famous author that he was Irish diluted with German and New England Yankee but Irish does not dilute well. which is what happened in my case. My way of celebrating St Patrick’s Day is playing and singing my brand of traditional Irish ballads at the Greenhouse Cafe in Bay Ridge Bkln. |

St. Patrick's Day not celebrated this year in Boston |

Posted by Orange Blossom Special on Tue Mar 17 04:56:47 2026, in response to St. Patrick's Day, posted by BILLBKLYN on Mon Mar 16 22:59:30 2026. Boston Mayor Michelle Wu has drawn criticism for skipping an annual St. Patrick's Day event just weeks after she attended a Ramadan night market.Mayor Michelle Wu, 41, was a no-show at the decades-old St. Patrick's Day Breakfast on Sunday morning, hosted at the Ironworkers Local 7 Union Hall in South Boston. However, Wu, who posted online about a Ramadan Night market at city hall just about two weeks before not attending the St. Patrick's Day event, chose to go to church with her family instead, a spokesperson told the Boston Globe. The mayor's absence follows hot on the heels of a clash with the event's host, Senator Nick Collins. Collins, a fellow Democrat, has publicly opposed Wu's proposal to avoid a tax increase for residential property owners by briefly increasing taxes on commercial real estate in the city. Josh Kraft, son of Patriots Owner Robert Kraft, was in attendance at last year's event and had mocked the mayor for the city being covered in scaffolding and smelling of marijuana. some took to social media to express their outrage at Wu. 'Hopefully people in Boston see her for what she is (an anti-white racist) and don't vote for her again, but knowing how stupid most voters are, they probably won't show her the contempt that she shows them, https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-15650331/boston-mayor-michelle-wu-skips-st-patricks-day.html |

I wish the transporter existed so I could beam into Donovan's in Woodside. Good food, drink and camaradERIE abound. My family members that live in NYC & Long Island traditionally gather there today. Unfortunately, I Couldn't make the trip this year. Cant say enough good about Donovans, except maybe its too small!. |

I wonder if they still have those great burgers. It wasn’t uncommon to have a great burger at the Irish bars. Not so much today. Molly’s on 3rd Ave is still good but I don’t know where else that would be. |

Irish pub burgers are known for being well done on the outside and rare and juicy on the inside which I like. One afternoon I was sitting in the Glocca Morra Pub across the street and up 3rd Ave from Molly’s and now long gone when a customer ordered a well done burger. Another customer commented “One charcoal briquette coming up” alluding to what the condition of the outside of the burger would possibly be. |

After Kevin Mooney died the place closed and I wanted to take it over and reopen it. Since there would have been no current business to buy the good will of, I could have started paying the rent on what was basically an empty store and reopened it after obtaining the appropriate liquor license. The problem was that although I entertained in many pubs, I only knew the peripherals of the business but not the substance so I needed a partner who was an expert in bar/restaurant operation, but nobody else was interested. The person who did eventually take over the place and renovated it as the Harp was someone who had worked as a bartender in Eamonn Doran’s in downtown Bkln and whom I knew quite well so I was glad to see the establishment in good hands. |
