After Kevin Mooney died the place closed and I wanted to take it over and reopen it. Since there would have been no current business to buy the good will of, I could have started paying the rent on what was basically an empty store and reopened it after obtaining the appropriate liquor license. The problem was that although I entertained in many pubs, I only knew the peripherals of the business but not the substance so I needed a partner who was an expert in bar/restaurant operation, but nobody else was interested. The person who did eventually take over the place and renovated it as the Harp was someone who had worked as a bartender in Eamonn Doran’s in downtown Bkln and whom I knew quite well so I was glad to see the establishment in good hands. |
