Malbone Street Wreck off-topic aspect

Posted by LuchAAA on Sat Nov 1 17:46:03 2025

Today is the anniversary of the famous Malbone Street Wreck.

As everyone knows, blogger and railfan Jayman is an expert on HBD and IQ.

We know how he feels about the Concordia shipwreck.

The motorman operating the Malbone Street Wreck was Antonio Luciano.

I wonder if Jayman blames Italians for this famous train wreck? Does he think HBD played a role?

It was more that Luciano was hurriedly made an operator to fill in for striking workers and given wholly inadequate training. Another factor was that he wasn’t in a proper frame of mind as his young daughter had died of the flu just a few days earlier.

It was the BRT management's determination to break the strike an any cost.
Luciano had to pay off unpaid medical bills (no coverage in those days) or get fired (no union protection either). Taking a run that he was completely unfamiliar with was asking for trouble. And they got it big time.
Damn those pesky unions that wanted to protect their employees and customers.

The unions had no desire to protect their customers.

Of course, the crash wasn’t the union’s fault.

Good union representation would not have allowed Luciano to make that Malbone St trip after working a full 8 hr shift in another craft on the same day. That was my point

That would have been for his benefit and for the benefit of other union members. Any benefit to customers is a side-effect.

Proposal 1 increases the total forever wild acreage. It removes 1039 acres and adds 2500 acres elsewhere.

I disagree. He was forced to make the trip or be fired. He was not qualified on the Brighton line. No way does the union benefit by allowing the management forcing an unskilled employee to make the trip. In fact it makes the union look weak for not stopping Luciano from making the trip in the first place. After the wreck, several BRT Mgt employees were indicted for 93 counts of manslaughter. That should say enough about BRT's management agenda

Yeah, cause they get subsidized from the city's economic development. I'd rather they be economically vital so they don't need the subsidy.

I wish he would do a blog about HBD and sports performance in soccer this World Cup year.

I have posted on his blog.

What I find interesting about him is that he is Jamaican, but shows no interest in Jamaican dominance in track and field.

Nor is he interested in Jamaica's popularity for sex tourism. A few years ago, some girls from my old neighborhood posted on FB that they had to cancel a trip to Jamaica due to COVID. They were going to celebrate a 50th birthday. I wish that had gone down.

p.s.- the girls who were going to Jamaica for a 50th birthday celebration, did not attend Catholic school. This should be noted.
