Working Sint Maarten

Posted by cortelyounext on Sun Jan 18 17:28:16 2026

So like I'm up here in the mountains of New York right where the snow continues to pile up. I'll be getting up at 0330 to get down to beautiful Newark so I can work the 0836 to TNCM where it is not snowing. I have flown with the assigned FO before and he/she/they told me he/she/they enjoys taking off out of TNCM using "Takeoff Rated Thrust" so he/she/they can blow the people off the fence into the ocean with the jet blast. I do not know what the term Takeoff Rated Thrust means exactly but I surmise it means a lot of it.

So I just bought myself a Kindle Paperwhite and will probably be reading the latest issue of Vogue or Elle and eating a Stroopwafel or from a Tapas Snackbox during takeoff. Furthermore, as the highest ranking male stewardess on this board, there will only be a tiny, side-facing window to look out from where I sit so I will not be able to see the umbrellas and people somersaulting across the beach into the water even if I want to see it. Those pilots just do whatever they want to do up there. The whole thing makes no sense.

Please let me know if you are flying to KCLE. There's someone there from United Van Lines that I'd like to introduce you to.

WILCO though rarely get over there. I work KPHX and still get in there though less so now since I bid "Reserve" lines more than I used to even though I can hold decent lines. In the event, maybe meet up at Matt's Big Breakfast over in Terminal 4 near B5? I have only been there once but have been to downtown location more than once. Arguably my favorite breakfasts aside from those prepared by my dear mother.

I was left hanging at KLAS on a late arrival by none other than the aviation savant JayZeeBMT and was laughed at by an All Nippon cabin crew walking past because I was wearing my oversized button on my uniform shirt featuring the 190st Street and 110th Street - Cathedral Parkway stations (Broadway Local) in "gold relief". Worse is the fact that the LuchAAA never showed - TWICE - at KTPA Loading Dock A off the Honorable Bessie Coleman Boulevard. I was there at the appointed time and he was nowhere to be found so I finally left and got to the jet when it was already boarded with barely enough time for scheduled Push. Ridiculous.

As an aviator you need to focus on diet. Diet is more of a threat than turbulence.
