Yup my office is near the cemetary. Even some of the seedier parts of Amityville are becoming yuppified. One fare to the city and all that crap.

Nuns did alot of damage to Catholicism.

They were verbally and physically abusive.

I have not met any fellow Catholics with a story about a negative encounter with a priest.

However, many have had bad experiences with a nun.

Next time I'm on Long Island, I might take a spin out there just for old times sake. IIIC it was exit 32 0r 33 off the Southern State, cross LIRR central branch tracks & look for Albany Ave.

Yep. I Always used an "analog" GPS back then. I think they called it a map!

Yep. Back in the day I got more beatings from the Nuns of St Sebastian's School (Srs of Charity, Halifix) than I ever did in the street.
If any of that shit happened today, they'd be off to jail.

Exit 33 is Rt 109. A quick right turn puts you on New Highway southbound. Across the tracks and 1/2 mile further down is Albany Ave.

Interesting. I was at Hofstra University for the NCAA D1 National Quarterfinals in college lacrosse back in the spring and as I was heading back to the LIRR after Syracuse beat Princeton in the late game I heard gunshots followed closely by the sound of distant sirens. It must have been heavy weapons going off since I was walking along the noisy Hempstead Turnpike or whatever that road is called at the time. Maybe the sounds were coming from Roosevelt or Uniondale where many victims are taken annually. I walked over to the Nassau Coliseum before the Cornell and Richmond game since I got there early but I made sure there were people around so I would not become just another in a long line of statistics lost to time like alm or a1m or aem by the Brentwood sign all those many years ago. Amanda was there.

With regard to Brentwood, that is good to know. I always defer to your knowledge when it comes to all things violent crime in Suffolk County.

My friends left Brentwood a few years ago. They survived the worst. Now I have no ties to the town.

It's the people on this board who are the real danger.
