An unusual example of Typical New York Incompetence

Posted by Peter Rosa on Sat Sep 30 22:53:43 2023

The Cathedral of St. John the Divine, near Columbia University. Under construction since 1892 but not even close to completion, and no word on when if ever it will be finished. True, it's not a government project like the Second Avenue Subway, and it certainly doesn't help that the Episcopal Church is sinking like a stone, but I am convinced that if it were in a Can-Do city like Austin or Nashville or Columbus, there would be far more progress.

Lol, you're obsessed with Austin TX, where there's no noise being made at all.

And how can something be unusual and typical at the same time?

130 years isn't particularly long for a cathedral, Sagrada Família is also unfinished.

Typical Barcelona incompetence.

On a serious note, some of the old school gothic cathedrals also took 100s of years to build.

If they'd asked Donald Trump in 1986, he would have gotten it done in 4 months!

If it hadn't been for the city's staggering incompetence with the Wollman Rink renovation Donald Trump might never have risen to fame and would have remained just another local developer.
