Yep. 61st & Roosevelt. It used to be called Breslin and Sweeney's. Old school post prohibition gin mill where they had big mirrors behind the bar and the bartenders still wore aprons. Word had it that the Breslin in the Breslin & Sweeny was columnist Jimmy Breslin. Haven't been by there in awhile so I don't know what the new name is.

It has come to my attention that people go there before a Mets.

Can't have a few beers at the game, these elements have to get boozed up before a game.

One beer is enough.

But these elements have to go to Donovan's pub in Woodside to down about 4 beers to be buzzed before the game.

They can't just go to the game.

I don't consume it anymore.

I tried it. Once I had two in a day.

Anyway, I know people who go to events but have to be boozed up first. Then be loud at the game.

to a lot of these bar scene guys, manhood is measured in ounces not inches.

They hawk each others drink count.

My friends who went to Molloy, St. Francis Prep, Cathedral, and Christ The King are this way.

One, who is a cop, told me he does not fear getting DUI'd. His view of the world as a cop is that 99% of people get away with DUI so it's nothing to worry about. He has the #copthink mentality that everyone gets away with it anyway.

Certainly not. Do they tailgate yes. But in football it’s an 8-10 day a year occasion so it’s much more of a production than the daily baseball game.
And I’m sure there is much more food at a football game than a baseball game.

Baseball fans going to the game never drink booze. Too expensive for one thing.
There all strictly beer drinkers. For the Yankees it was Ballantine and for the Mets it was Rheingold. Beer and baseball have been joined at the hip since the Abner Doubleday days.

Tailgating is part of the experience.

Especially football. It draws from a wide geographical area compared to baseball.

Grilling before a game is a manly display because grilling is masculine and so is football.

In fact I might work on my 25 yard sprint because 40 is too long.

Since cops have cameras nowadays, I suspect it would be very hard for another cop to beat a DUI. Back in the old days, if a driver was pulled over for weaving in and out of lane and he turned out to be a drunk cop (or fireman), he'd be given a "take it easy & have a nice day"
However, if he was involved in an accident, all bets were off.
