IMO There’s one big reason - DJT. Moderates can’t enthusiastically support any candidate linked to him.

What's really disturbing is that we have a majority of voters in NYS who accept increasing crime and worsening quality of life, and not only ghetto voters. But voters is the suburbs and upstate communities as well. That doesn't bode well for NY as a livable place.

Remember that Hochul said nothing after a woman was raped and nearly killed in the West Village. Apparently now even that is o.k. with voters in the West Village.

The thug element now knows that it really does have free reign to infiltrate otherwise middle-class areas of NYC. There is no one to stop them and voters accept that.

In other news it looks like New York and Pennsylvania are tied when it comes to having the stupidest voters in America.

She’s not the precinct captain in the West Village. Why should she comment on a random crime?

Looks like the voters in NY and PA are smart enough not to fall for the Trump Party’s “we’re tough on crime” bullshit.

NY in fact has a significant expected shift from D to R in the House, possibly the most of any single state and a good piece of the likely R margin in the new House.

Crime pushed one way and DJT pushed the other, but crime dominated.

Al Smith used to say that the NYS Legislature was "Constitutionally Republican".

The reason was that the NYS Constitution limited the number of each legislative chamber and had a provision that each county had to have at least one member in each chamber.

This meant that NYC legislators represented far more residents than those outside NYC.

Bragg is the main "culprit" because crime committed in a touristy neighborhood of Manhattan gets 100 times the publicity of crime in Brentwood. He gets blamed whether he deserves to be blamed or not.

And he very much deserves to be blamed for the appearance of rampant crime because of his actions.

With a shape like that, one can pretty much assume the district was designed with strongly political intent.

And surely you know enough about Chicago to know that the areas shown are all reasonably populated. This isn't the virtually unpopulated industrial southeast here.
