If it passes, the Biden/Harris financial transaction tax will prove ruinous to their careers.Here's an example: You scalp ROKU at 250 shares as it runs up from $200 to $201. Without the FTT, your profit is $250, subject to short-term capital gains tax. With the FTT, you're taxed at 0.2% of $50,000 for the purchase and 0.2% of $50,250 for the sale. Your profit is now less than $50.  Mayoral candidate Carlos Menchaca's killing of Industry City development was another wake-up call for me. I honestly don't believe the Democratic Party offers anything of value to those who are willing to learn, work, and stay out of trouble. |

I'm willing to pay more in taxes, but it does bum me out to see my tax money wasted at the state level and to see my fellow California citizens vote over and over to waste it in different ways.I watched a YouTube video yesterday that was made by a young California millionaire named Graham Stephan. He decided to leave California for Nevada because he felt like his considerable tax payments were being wasted because as a state we are incapable of fixing basic quality of life issues like being able to walk a block without stepping over human feces or having a deranged addict scream at you. He ignores that it's all because of dumb stuff we keep voting for due to the unintended consequences of our compassion and tolerance. Ok this has nothing to do with your post, but I felt like venting. |

It's a foolish endeavor, but whatevs! As an attorney, who assumingly lives a comfortable middle class life, with the future opportunity to make more money in the future, exactly WHAT abut him do you despise, besides him switching to the Republican Party in order to run for POTUS? Listen, I know it's tough to vote against the Democrats in NYC. My FIL is the same way. He thinks the Dems are still the same as they were when he still lived her in the early 80s. |

The tax goes after the day traders and the professional traders using computers to make hundreds of trades/day. These are scalping trades for just a few dollars or even just a few dimes, per trade profit. Do that several hundred times per day and it adds up. |

It's the elimination of minimum commissions that made day trading possible, with its ills or benefits.The minimum commission for trades over $5000 used to be $39 + 0.1%. That would have left your with a $71.75 profit instead of the $49.50 you cited in your example. |
