If you are joking, it's only slightly funny.

If you are making a serious political point, it's boring.

It's not his point, it's the secret BLM documents.

Except for Black Israelites. NYTimes said they were cool people.

I dared to make a post in Buschat many many years ago and described someone as the "b" word. I never did that again. I'm like a newspaper now. "people" or "youths" only.

You completely miss the reason why Aunt Jemima as a brand is archaic and inappropriate.

Black Sabbath

Apparently on their first US tour, they were harangued by some blacks saying "Hey, Black Sabbath! . . . You guys ain't black!"

Not at all. I just think its silly. The brand has been around for over 120 years. Only NOW its "offensive"? People associate the name "Aunt Jemima" with delicious pancakes and syrups, not with slavery.

Talk about archaic and inappropriate - how about the anti-Semitic attacks on Jews by blacks that occurred in December of last year and early this year? Remember those? There's one man who is in a coma and may never come out. Those were never resolved fully and they've been forgotten because of the Coronavirus and COVID-19.

And the Jewish people who were attacked were just ordinary New Yorkers. They weren't the police.

Black people have suffered because of racism, no question. But your hands are not completely clean either.

So either buy a sense of humor or get your pwn house in order.

We've already blown his prepositions up in other threads. Notice he disappears and then just does a 'drive-by' elsewhere. That way he can play the interent game when enough time passes and asks you for proff or some nonsense as though you never had the convo.

The latest image was Olivia Hunter, Anna Harrington's daughter, since 1989 and removed the head scarf to rightfully show a black woma who was a housewife and church goer

A bit of family history was destroyed.

Of course you are too stupid to see the real history behind the Aunt Jemima brand.

The "real history" of the Aunt Jemima brand goes much further back than 1989. Stop trying to defend it. Even the company realized why it was problematic.

Black Water (CCR song)

I think that was a Doobie Brothers song (unless CCR recorded a different song with that title that I never heard about)

i don't get it. "aunt jemima" looks like half of the black females i've seen since i was born. it's wrong to portray black women looking like black women?

for what it's worth, it makes more sense to interpret a company's use of black people, "aunt jemima" and "uncle ben" in particular as showcasing images of people who look like they may know a thing or two about flapjacks and rice. who just happen to be black.

In the mid-70s, the Doobies were my favorite group. I saw them live at the Assembly Hall at the University of Illinois in December 1973. The next spring, they released the What were once vices are now habits album. I was in the record store, and I saw a new single by them from that album. I had not heard anything on the radio (WLS out of Chicago), but I did something that I had never done before (and never have done since): I bought a single without ever hearing it. I got home and I realized that I didn't know which side was the A side (I'm sure there is coding on the label indicating which side is which, but I didn't know about any of that shit back then). So I played both sides, and I preferred Black Water. Subsequently, I did find out that Black Water was the B side and the A side was Another Park Another Sunday. I still preferred Black Water. Early the next year, I was back in Brooklyn and was in a store that had a radio station playing over their PA (I think they were playing that absolute crapfest of a station 99X (WXLO 98.7), and I hear Black Water being played. I was like, why is 99X playing a B side from last year? Then later on, I kept hearing it, and I realized it was now an A-side. I later was getting records and I saw it on sale (with a different B side). Of course, I already had it. Apparently, some DJs liked it better as I did and started playing it, and the Doobies decided to release it. Good move, as it became their first #1 single, topping the Billboard Hot 100 on March 15, 1975 (and the only #1 with the "proper" Doobies lineup with Tom Johnston and Patrick Simmons (who wrote Black Water). I try to ignore the later Michael McDonald shitfest 🙄
