"Aunt" in the context of this brand name, is a term used for an older female house slave, and should have been dropped or changed decades ago.

I'm surprised Quaker got away with it as long as they have.

See i think of it as somebody's aunt making pancake syrup. I do remember they reworked her picture about 15 or 20 years ago.
In any event I only use real maple syrup all that fake syrup is gross anyway

I'll remember that the next time I see someone use the term Aunt

Or professor. Or scholar. Or constitution. Or any other word you invent some connotation about. But keep using slanderous terms for Jews. that's okey.

Aunt Jemima logo is based on a "'mammy,' a devoted and submissive servant who eagerly nurtured the children of her white master and mistress while neglecting her own.

Time to get rid of it, or face the possibility of a consumer backlash or boycott. There is no need to risk that.

Aunt Jemima was a popular and even patriotic figure at least into the 1950s

For 14 years she was portrayed by cook and actress Anna Short Harrington. Later she was portrayed by Ethel Ernestine Harper, a teacher.

At least we get a teachable moment out o the current mania to cleanse history.

My wife has just one blood uncle, but she calls everyone in her family who is older than her "aunt and uncle". That tradition has not trickled down to the next generation, as my nieces and nephews all call my wife and I by our first names.
