Alcohol sales

Posted by bingbong on Thu Apr 9 17:56:06 2020

Are up 22% in March. No surprise, there's not much to do other than drink at home. Biggest sellers are premixed cocktails, followed by tequila. Waiting for the lime shortage.

Out in Pennsylvania, Gov Wolf in his infinite wisdom closed all the state owned liquor stores. Since the state runs them, theres no competition and all profits( which might have been big time nowadays) go straight to the bottom line. Meantime, they cry poverty loud and clear. States neighboring western PA where I live (Ohio, W.Va. & Maryland) have remained open & cashing in big time. At least they left the beer distributers & wine sections in the supermarkets open.

March has St. Patrick's Day so you know.

Is it 22% over February or compared to last March 2019?

I have a glass of wine once a week. That's it. I don't like hard liquor or beer. I have lost weight watching my carbs.

There has been an uptick in domestic problems and mental depression. Alcohol consumption will exacerbate it.

I have plenty of household tasks I have been meaning to get to and I am tele-commuting. I am fine with this going on for a few months. Saves me $80 a month commuting.

But then the body metabolizes alcohol as sugar, which is not good for your overall immune system.

It's not in your DNA to seek so much alcohol. That's the real reason you didn't booze up.

So I guess I won't be drinking for 8 days!!

I'll bet if you look at your life over the last 20 years, there were many times when you went 8 days without booze. So it's probably nothing new to your body.

Did you eat lamb? Lamb is popular during Passover.

aren't you of Italian ancestry?

There has been an uptick in domestic problems

which I mentioned weeks ago but the gangstalkers all tried to shout me down.

Alcohol consumption will exacerbate it.

depends on your DNA. My northern European friends thrive on alcohol. It improves their health. Italians, Jews, and people of color(blacks and Latinos) should just stay away from the stuff.

Overall it makes sense that sales are up because people are home and can increase consumption and not worry about a DUI, awkward interaction at work(people are home) and it's so much cheaper to booze up at home instead of a bar or restaurant.

Italian (Naples and Sicily).

I only buy imported pasta. American wheat gives me heartburn and bloat. Our wheat is not what it used to be. It is genetically modified and sprayed with Roundup in the silos. I only buy organic cereal and only 1 bowl per week.

The scent of olive oil in the Sicilian deli near me makes me salivate. But I have to stay away from there during the duration. I don't want to buy anything that is not in a factory sealed bag, and if not, cannot bake or nuke. No cold cuts, no cucumber/tomato salad of theirs, which I crave.

yeah I have been buying imported Italian pasta. But I don't know how much different it is and honestly I trust US audits of organic compliance. Italy has had it's own issues with wheat and were forced to buy it from Canada.

Huge difference between imported and domestic pasta. Imported pasta has a richer, nutty flavor to it. Used to get Barilla, then they started to manufacture it here w/ domestic semolina, which just tastes pasty. I only use imported pasta.

The most meat I’ll consume at any time is 6oz, and that’s only fish and sometimes chicken. One needs a full spectrum varied diet. I have no weight problems either. If I eat too much, I’ll just climb another mountain that week, or spend an extra afternoon on the water (yay).

the pasta is "made in Italy". It's a product of Italy. That is where the wheat is pulverized, boiled in water and shaped. Then it's sent off.

Honestly I have never tried it. Don't like what it looks, smells, or tastes like. If not for Conor McGregor and Kathy Griffin I would not really know about whiskey.

No digestive problems with bread and pasta when in Canada. Different farming system.

I've had chicken from Quebec. I don't know how different wheat in Manitoba is from wheat in the US Midwest. Places like Italy can't possibly grow enough wheat to meet the demand.

Whisky is made from grains that have fermented. Wheat, barley, rye, oats and spelt are the “five grains” which can become chometz when brought into contact with water.
