But I don't give him the slightest credit for its gain (even though he does), and therefore I am OK with giving him no blame for its loss.

Back in the MNRR bar car days, all the Wall St.types on the NH line, where there were real bar cars & not rolling carts bolted into standard coaches, the business would be booming with investors drowning their sorrows on their way home. Then, the best moneymaking job on the RR was bartender.

No one is happy, we are all demanding proper funding and that experts lead the way.

No one is thrilled,

No one is happy that Trump wanted to cut cdc funding, and shut down mechanisms prior. Some simply cause Obama started the programs.

He cut funding and wanted to cut funding and when its time to prepare a response its a meager one. He only caved to pressure.

As usual you need to be corrected.

Have you noticed that on this board the one who is most alarmist about this virus is OBS? Not exactly a liberal.

I realize that coronavirus is a very serious thing. But note that in the worst city in the entire world for this virus, Wuhan, the death rate so far is about 30 per 100,000 population. That's a bit lower than Baltimore's murder rate and maybe 3 times the annual influenza death rate. This is a bad thing, but not a worldwide disaster (assuming Wuhan is over the worst).

No, I'm pointing out that sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander. If Trump wants to take credit when the market does well, then he should also own it when the market does poorly. If Obama was President today, and the market had a week-long nosedive, none of you conservatives would ever let him push that off on a viral outbreak.

The past week serves to demonstrate where the fundamentals actually are.

Add a touch of adversity and it’s falling apart.

For most, this virus is at most a baaaad cold. For way too many it’s lethal. Why are we spending tax dollars on a stupid wall, when we NEED that money to develop a life-saving vaccine? What about the right to life for the currently living?

The 1918 influenza pandemic is now generally considered to have originated at Camp Funston, in Kansas. Should the rest of the world have closed their borders to Americans?

One has to wonder if your misinformation is borne out of dishonesty or ignorance. That 1918 N1H1 flu was believed to have started at a British military base or at Fort Riley Kansas. Obviously a result of WWI soldiers carrying the disease across borders.

Sad as it is that you had to go back over a century to try to defend your indefensible position. Though necessitated by war, the Flu of 1918 was brought back to this country. It's pretty clear, on the other hand that the 2009 pandemic was exacerbated by illegal crossing the border from Mexico, where the disease began

Are you sure about that? The Camp Funston site at Fort Riley is directly below a known migratory bird route, used by several types of birds that carry avian flu. It is probable that soldiers training there for combat in Europe, contracted the virus from birds flying over, and through, the base. The 1918 flu is known to have been zoonotic.

I can't believe your ignorance is so deep-seated that you can't possibly comprehend an American origin for a viral plague.
