The stock market skyrocketed because people were worried about uncertainty in the election results, like in 2000. That, and the moneyed class has always been Trump's main base of support. It's not the MAGA-hat-wearing "rednecks." |

The House passed plenty of bills. Which one do you think was rightly killed by Moscow Mitch?I'm not going to accept your improper usage of the word "pass" because there is no reasonable alternative to saying it "passed" the House and "passed" the Senate. "Passing" a bill in the house and it failing in the Senate is not what I was talking about. If that is your use of the word "pass," then of course the House didn't "pass" anything. There's many reasons that a bill doesn't pass. It's not a law until it DOES pass. Before that, it's something that wound up in the waste paper basket. As for New York, we talked about this before. And I listed before. Less than a month ago. No need to rehash that old topic again. I am sure you can find it, it was around the time of the illegals getting drivers licenses. |

It's not an accomplishment until it passes into law. Use whatever vocabulary you want. If it was reasonable, then they should have been able to negotiate with the Senate, and in end, the president's desk. |

There are reasons that it wouldn't pass in the senate. If it can be negotiated with the Senate, it passes, and ultimately into law if the president doesn't veto it. |

We can agree to disagree, because while I see flaws in their ideas, I generally like them (except for the rent bill which I am 100% against).Like I'm for bail reform, but I think what was passed was half-baked and goes way too far. I actually agree with you on all of this. But the point is they DID go to far. On all of them. It's major. All of those are MAJOR. The rent thing is really bad, and will do the exact opposite of what they claim. It will make it HARDER for people to find apartments, and it will make them even more expensive than they are. At the same time, existing apartments in the stabilization will deteriorate, as there is absolutely no incentive AT ALL do anything but the bare minimum to them. Buildings, old buildings that NEED constant upgrading will deteriorate. No hope of getting even a penny more when a tenant that lived in the apartment 25 or more years. An apartment that will need renovation, yet hasn't gotten any increases in decades other than the 2%ish crap. Now can't even get a vacancy allowance! Or increase for needed upgrades and renovation! WAY too far. At least the old system was somewhat fair. MAJOR And we talked about licenses enough. MAJOR And there's plenty more. And even the minor stupid stuff. You really think I am alone in thinking the Democrats alienated a LOT of people with these things. Even if you are against just one, it's bad for their image. Out with them in the election. Then. Bail reform. Please. Way too far is an understatement again! Even moderate Democrats are outraged over this. MAJOR |
