I like dogs myself but when living on your own and don't have time to train, walk, and play with your dog, a cat is the next best thing. Just maintain the litter and food/water and your cat is happy and even with limited time, there's still some for play. But my cat is beyond playing and all he does is eat, sleep, litter box and the occasional affectionate nuzzle when he wants a treat.ALP 44 |

Hey Andee, don't be so judgmental. I'm hoping that when he gets to 15 or 20, one of the animal rescue cable shows will do an intervention, so that we can see how Peter lives... |

Actually, there's an animal rescue place in Bay Shore that does it cheap. It's $50 for a male and $85 for a female (more if she's pregnant). When I had that mother cat that had all the kittens in my yard, I found homes for all of them, but we brought them all at the same time (each person that took a cat paid for their own). I had two, the mother and one kitten. This also includes rabbi shots. You bring them early in the morning and pick them up around 3:00. They do dogs too. A lot cheaper than if you bring them to a regular animal hospital. It's actually impossible to have a non-fixed male cat, as they spray (marking territory) if they are not fixed. And female cats are annoying when they go into heat when they are not fixed (even housecats that don't get out), and of course it's worse when she goes out, as then you wind up with more kittens |

We didn't think there was any rush getting Baci spayed because she never went outside and, as noted, all the male cats are fixed. What we weren't counting on was the fact that she'd go rushing outside when we opened the door. She'd never done that before in the two-plus years we've had her.My LIRR/NYCT blog |

It probably comes out to a similar price then, as the Bay Shore Animal Rescue place included the shots in the price. EIther way though, both seem to be a good deal. |

But luckily I live in a an apartment building and she'd run to the floor below and just be totally confused. |
