Sadly, during the rainy music festival, a total of eight women suffered miscarriages. Two women in attendance gave birth, but neither birth occurred on the actual festival grounds. We have to hand it to these women. They knew it was an historic event and didn’t want to miss it, even though they were literally ready to give birth. And imagine the stories those kids get to tell their family and friends: “I was born AT Woodstock.”yeah okay |

I think that any large to very large gathering of people for an event they would all consider significant, will live on in their memories and in the way their experience at the event might partly come to reflect and/ or shape their values and view of the world. Here we are talking about Woodstock, but I would expect, for example, that, anyone attending an event, for one or more days, with thousands of others that might be considered an extremely conservative religiously fundamentalist gathering - those people would feel the same way about their event for years to come. |

People are way more removed from it now. I remember the 25th anniversary in the 90's, and it was huge. It was embraced by the GenXers who were young then. The Baby Boomers were still middle aged, and not geriatric. The GenXers look more fondly at their 25th anniversary event than the original, and they also are removed from the original even more now. The Millenials don't care at all. |

Maybe for most baby boomers, but not everybody. Not everyone who went there thought it was the greatest thing on earth. Read an article last week about a guy who was disappointed at it as just one example and have heard other stories. Maybe just some non-religious Jews never thought of it as a great thing after going. It really puts the Golden Calf episode in perspective since things never change. |

The Kinks were the first real "heavy metal" band. "You Really Got Me" released in 1965 had that real in your face guitar lick by one of the Davies' Bros (I forget which one) that still holds up well today. |

I saw them May 68 early show Fillmore East - records didn't come close to their live metal - could've crumbled sections of the Great Wall of China. Sound went right through you at the threshold of pain and the MC5's first album.... side one Sabbath, and that first generation were not a reaction to Woodstock - they more like musicians who'd listened to Cream - and worked up a formula: play it louder, slower, and a bit more distorted, and we'll sell albums just like they did. Lester Bangs was the first to call them on it. |
