“Oh no, there’s people stuck outside. We need to get them out,” she says in the livestream.

Out from outside?

“The climate crisis is real y’all … guess we’re at casual tornadoes in growing regions of the country,” she wrote in her Instagram story.

Where's that at? Where I'm at in part of Tornado alley? Yeah, funnels randomly form on the camera's on live Television. Or is this up northeast of DC, where there were funnels as well.
Who now has had a tornado watch that did not have such things 150 years ago?

I also didn't know the most exclusive condo building in DC got tornados though. Must really be terrible.

A meteorologist for Fox 45 in Dayton, Ohio snapped at viewers who complained on social media about a tornado warning that interrupted Monday night’s broadcast of “The Bachelorette,” saying that the cutaway was due to a “dangerous situation.”

“I was just checking social media, we have viewers complaining already. ‘Just go back to the show.’ No, we’re not going back to the show, folks. This is a dangerous situation, okay,” Jamie Simpson said during the live broadcast.

Simpson scolded viewers who cared more about who Hannah Brown would give the next rose to than to a dangerous weather situation, which has caused massive damage to the region.

“Think about if this was your neighborhood. I’m sick and tired of people complaining about this,” Simpson said. “Our job here is to keep people safe, and that is what we’re going to do. Some of you complained that this is all about my ego. Stop. It’s not. I’m done with you people, I really am, this is pathetic.”

*************

Climate change be damned. The Bachlorette is on.

To all you haters, hers was an act of courage. No more, no less. I applaud her for risking it all to get those people out who were stuck in the rain.

She's not necessarily wrong.

The evidence just isn't there one way or the other. But the current string of tornadoes is very unusual.

Kerry A. Emanuel, a professor of atmospheric science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology who specializes in hurricanes, noted that the science of the connection between tornadoes and climate change is simply less comprehensive that what researchers have compiled on tropical cyclones.

Dealing with tornadoes and climate change, he said, is “absolutely complicated,” and there are relatively few papers that discuss tornadoes and climate because “it’s almost impossible to see any signal in the data.” What’s more, he said, the data of the current generation of radar technology goes back to only about 1990, a shorter period than that for good hurricane data.

It's fairly obvious that climate change is real.

There's even strong evidence that man is responsible for a good chunk of it.

There's less so evidence that QoL reducing mitigations by western countries will have fuck all to do with solving it.

Why is it better than just using a strainer and throwing that in the regular garbage?

What QoL-reducing mitigations? I only support QoL-neutral or improving mitigations like better fuel/energy efficiency and nuclear power. I also believe that that's enough.

Maybe the one QoL-reducing mitigation I can think of is reducing the prevalence of short airplane flights.

What QoL-reducing mitigations?

A bunch of little things.

It will be hard to drive 800 miles in one day in a fully electric car.

By 2050 it will be less expensive to heat your home with heat pumps wherever you now have air conditioners, rather than have a steam or hot water system based on an oil or gas furnace. That will be slightly inconvenient, and may require an investment you wouldn't otherwise need to make.

There will be transition periods where the renewable energy sources aren't sufficiently supplemented by pumped storage hydro, and there could be spot power shortages. Say if your whole region is windless for a day or two you might only be able to recharge your car during the day and not at night.

The price of power probably will go up a bit. Solar plus wind plus storage is probably more expensive than gas-fired turbines.

It will be hard to drive 800 miles in one day in a fully electric car.

Anyone who needs to drive that much can rent an internal combustion car, or would own/lease one. That's a decline in QoL given that most car owners now have that luxury even if they never use it, but it's a mild decline.

By 2050 it will be less expensive to heat your home with heat pumps wherever you now have air conditioners, rather than have a steam or hot water system based on an oil or gas furnace. That will be slightly inconvenient, and may require an investment you wouldn't otherwise need to make.

It's 30 years. Many (but admittedly not all) would have to be refurbished/replaced in that time anyway. But other than the capital cost, it doesn't actually lower QoL. So this is an example of something where the only diminishment of QoL is the money being spent, once.

There will be transition periods where the renewable energy sources aren't sufficiently supplemented by pumped storage hydro, and there could be spot power shortages. Say if your whole region is windless for a day or two you might only be able to recharge your car during the day and not at night.

Nuclear power (and existing hydro sources), not renewable, should be the base power.

Everywhere outside of New York is "hick country". I don't know if I should remark:

A) Wow, flyover country sure did grow. I always thought it was the Central and Mountain timezones; Or

B) All those Millionaire hicks in Miami. "Immigrants" in Orlando to Texas and Arizona, or

Their vote counts like they live in a Republic where the states vote. Not one of these dumpy Parliments where there isn't even a bill of rights. If the founders didn't want one state to overrule the culture and needs of the other 12, imagine if one overrules the other 49! But that's another topic.

Most republics don't have such a bizarre maldistribution of votes. Those that do are usually undemocratic hell holes.

You are really confused if you think having a parliament has anything to do with the way the legislators are elected or that having a parliament means no "Bill of Rights."

The Constitution was a compromise. James Madison did NOT want an equal Senate. The malapportionment of the Senate has only gotten worse.

It doesn't happen in "hicksville" because those areas are basically judenrein.
