SCOTUS Will Hear LGBTQ Workplace Discrimination Case

The high court will decide whether gays, lesbians and transgender people are protected by the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

With two of Trump's conservative judges on the Court, I'm not optimistic about this. A ruling that LGBTQ employees are not protected, could open the door to severe employment issues for LGBTQ people, including summary firing over sexual orientation or gender identity. The fact that this decision won't come until June of next year, in the midst of the presidential campaign, makes the case even more contentious.

I don’t think that it would be contentious for 99% of jobs. Where there might be disagreement would be for religious organizations.

But how would this open a door to discrimination? States that ban discrimination based on sexual orientation would continue to do so and the door is already open for states that don’t currently.

I hope that the Court rules 5-4 for the appellants. Goodridge helped Bush get reëlected in 2004.

Businesses that have hesitated to fire unwanted gay or trans employees because they were uncertain of the law, would feel free to do so without fearing lawsuits, should SCOTUS rule negatively.

In two of the three cases before the Court, lower appeals courts did find for the gay and trans appellants. In the third, a federal appeals court in Georgia decided against the gay employee. Which appellants are you referring to?

Would lead to a big backlash among the non-degenerate members of society (those who aren’t fixated on what’s inside other people’s pants and what they do with them) and might convince them to actually show up to vote for politicians who support human dignity, and realize that they’re not two sides of the same fucking coin.

I know my use of the term degenerate is confusing so I’ll make it absolutely clear that I support LGBT dignity and equality.

I mean find in favor or R.G. and G.R. Harris Funeral Homes, Altitude Express and Clayton County, Georgia.

That could backfire if religious "Conservatives" who stayed home in 2016 are thrilled with the decision and can overlook Trump's anti-Christian behavior because he put some anti-LGBTQ Justices on the bench.

Also, conservatives have voted based on the Supreme Court for decades. I wouldn't be surprised if Scalia's death helped Trump win. It's Democrats that were generally indifferent to judicial appointments. They need to be made to care.

As an employer, I would have no problem with someone being a gay or a lesbian, however, if you showed up to work looking like RuPaul or Divine, that shows me that you have a mental issue and you don't take your job seriously. Leave that shit at home.
