United Van Lines (est. 1928)

Posted by cortelyounext on Tue Nov 13 16:09:27 2018

I will now be working from the left seat as I continue to move freight and even people from the Newark Terminal. The emblem on the hat reads United Van Lines (est. 1928) and I am proud to don which means wear the ensemble regalia uniform call it what you will. Wishing you a happy and healthy holiday season.

Good to hear from you.

I'm sure Luch will be quick to suggest you're in the left seat of a British vehicle. :)

Maybe you'll get to fly the MAX 9 (UVL has it on IAH-FLL, maybe one of these days I'll get a pic).

I was scheduled to work equipment last month but for a tail swap. I was just going to randomly press buttons and flip switches and manipulate dials potentiometers rheostats call it what you will until I found something that worked and then stick with it. I was on the shuttle to some airport back in the summer and saw a couple pilots heads down scouring which means looking at their iPads going over engine start indications/procedures and EFIS stuff as they were caught completely unawares they had been assigned the MAX. I gathered up my bags and wished them G-dspeed and the Captain replied thanks but that "it is too late for that, nothing can help us now."

Enjoy the left seat of the 7-3. Was thinking of you last month when relatives were taking UVL between Kilo Lima Golf Alpha and Kilo Delta Echo November, but since I had not seen you around lately didn't feel the need to comment. Needless to say their response was unless it was by far the cheapest option never to fly them again so I looked for a different option for their next trip to Kilo Alpha Uniform Sierra.

On a rare foray into the city, my last trip began and ended KLGA to KDEN and, a few days later, KDEN to KLGA... vectored off the MIP.MIP4 out of ETG over crime ridden Nassau for the RNAV (GPS/GNSS) 31 in wicked winds. Oh yeah, good call by your relatives.

On a serious note, I decided some time ago to leave this site for the most part. The honorable and mysterious trains61 graciously offered me an Associate (non-tenured) slot in the "Lurker's Guild - Aviation Division" which I immediately accepted. So it is, I follow the quote unquote goings on here from time to time. I simply lost interest, notwithstanding the many good and knowledgable people who provide substantive, thoughtful contributions and, yes, humorous anecdotes to the boards, once the back and forth turned increasingly petty and nasty to the point of becoming offensive to my sensibilities. I fully realize I was at fault to a certain extent as well.

I finally flew the 737 MAX yesterday into Houston. I found the steeper climb made it difficult to do my job which is to pour coffee into cups without spilling it. The prima donnas pilots told me the longer engine start on said piece of equipment had to do with the LEAP-1B and something called Bowed Rotor Motoring in addition to EEC self tests before fuel could be introduced. I asked said individuals what Bowed Rotor Motoring means and was told they did not know. The whole thing just makes no sense.

As to Rotor Bow motoring, are you referring to Pratt and Whitney engines specifically or all turbune engines in general?

Leaving for Upgrade Training in Denver (TK) tomorrow morning - I finished my last trip as a quote unquote regular male stewardess yesterday (IAH - LGA). I am not really sure why it takes three weeks of training, to include Systems Validation, Procedures Validation, Maneuvers Validation, International Operations/Class 2 - ETOPS Validation, and Line Oriented Evaluation (FAA) in order to become Lead IFM Purser call it what you will.
