What do you think of this?

Under North Carolina law, a woman cannot revoke consent, once sex has begun.

I think if the guy is being a dick and starts rough stuff like slapping, choking, hair pulling, dirty talk, etc.......and she says stop, then he should stop.

Do you think the law should be changed?

From the article: But, she told Fayetteville police, when the sex turned violent, she told the man to stop. He didn’t listen.

Keyword is violent. She consented to sex, not to assault.

That's true. However, the article also notes that NC courts have held that once consent to sex is given, it's irrevocable. Violence during sex is another issue altogether, and not as clear-cut as it might ordinarily appear. For example, certain types of sexual play involve violence. Of course, this wasn't what happened with the woman in question, hence the assault charge.

Quite so but, if there's a consent to a romantic evening and you unexpectedly are taken into a room with whips and chains and a brawny gentleman with a leather mask and branding iron on hot coals, I would guess the original consent would need updating.

These "ATTN:" threads as if they're emails are like the "Guess the location" threads.

I'm really glad that I'm not "playing the field" in today's world. People aren't always expressive in legally clear terms during sexual activity.

Women are encouraged to be in touch with their sexuality and make their desires known during sex. (Cool!). But when she says "Don't do that", the guy has to figure out whether she wants him to do something differently to enhance her experience or whether he is now raping her (Less cool!).

While such lack of clarity might mean a conviction unlikely, the process of getting to such a conclusion is hardly amusing (see Rikers thread, among many other reasons).

Usually the partners know what they expect but...

A woman wrote in Quora that her boyfriend came home, decided it would be fun to do the Tarzan and Jane thing and threw her down on the bed. The woman (who was writing) was all for it, but her cat freaked and jumped on his head, claws extended.

His bald head...

Makes no difference if you have hair. Hair does not shield your cranium from claws. You just don't get to see the scars after the bleeding stops.
