Are we winning yet?
Posted by JayZeeBMT on Mon Jun 5 05:29:46 2017 As of this morning, the United States still has no FBI Director, no FEMA Director, no head of NOAA, most of the 46 U.S. Attorneys Trump fired haven't been replaced, and the State Department has multiple leadership vacancies at every level. Are we tired of "winning" yet?

He (the President) ... shall nominate, and by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, shall appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, Judges of the supreme Court, and all other Officers of the United States, whose Appointments are not herein otherwise provided for, and which shall be established by Law: but the Congress may by Law vest the Appointment of such inferior Officers as they think proper, in the President alone, in the Courts of Law, or in the Heads of Departments. One of the main reasons the Trump Administration hasn't gotten as much done as it might have is that large numbers of offices are vacant because no one has been appointed to them. Can't blame the "resistance" on that. I put "resistance" in quotes because it's not the word I would use.

The immigration ban isn't such an item - it's been stymied by law suits by a small number of individual entities. Where else have the Republicans been stymied by Democrats and not by their own issues?

Much of the rest is worthy of resistance for the good of our nation: - AHCA (which faces a hard time in the senate because there don't seem to be 50 Republican votes for it) - proposed budget (which hasn't been delayed by Democrats) - scrapping environmental rules indiscriminately (but the Democrats have no power to resist that, even though they wish to)

Trump wants to erect a wall on the border with one of our major trading partners. That's worth resisting. Trump has publicly declared the free press to be the "enemy of the state ". That's worth resisting. Trump has publicly called for people who oppose him to be "carried out on a stretcher". That's worth resisting. Trump has pulled out of the Paris Accords on climate change. That's worth resisting. Trump publicly fired three high-ranking DOJ officials, all of whom were investigating his campaign's involvement with Russia. That's worth resisting. Trump himself has played more golf in the first 120 days of his administration, than Obama did in 8 years as President. As Trump repeatedly smeared his predecessor for golfing too much, that's worth resisting, too. None of this "resistance" to Trump'sauthoritarian regime is disloyal, nor is it un-American.
