Why do people want to put the Jewish people in their own category instead of putting them with everyone else? I grew up with friends from all different nationalities and backgrounds. Including about three or four Jewish kids. Now they had fixed games, but some of their relatives did not like if we said jokes about them. Of course it was perfectly okay, and in college, to make Norwegian jokes, Irish jokes, Italian jokes, German jokes, Puerto Rican jokes. That was okay, but you couldn't make any Jewish jokes. We don't have many trump voters where I am. There were lots of fiscal conservatives in OC when I worked there but I never heard any of them say anything anti Semitic.Maybe it's regional? Maybe it's generational? But in my experience Jews almost never come up in conversation whether positively or negatively. They're not a people that the people I associate with think about.
