Which of the groups you mentioned, other than Jews, are singled out for comment even in countries, and during historical times, where most people never saw, no less had interaction with, Jews.

When Shakespeare wrote The Merchant of Venice and Marlowe wrote The Jew of Malta (contemporaneous with each other), Jews were forbidden in the UK; Jews are the universal "Other."

Why did you mention these different ethnicities and single out Jewish jokes? You could make "black" jokes? For my own part I couldn't care less about "Jew" jokes so long as they're not made with malice.
