Sortof, except the pre-existing coverage was the most useful part of Obamacare. To use an alcoholic beverage analogy:Before Obamacare there was just water. The people wanted rum. Obama pushed for wine and what we got was cheap beer. Upon closer inspection, the beer was actually O'Douls (which at least has .5% alcohol). Paul Ryan's plan is to water down the O'Douls. Worst. Frat party. Ever. |

There are some obvious poison pills.First, individual policies will be paid by providing tax credits. Such tax credits obviously benefit only to those whose tax liability exceeds the amount of the tax credit. If a person's tax liability is zero, they are left with no additional income by which to pay for individual insurance. Under Obamacare, the government provided direct payments to individuals for such insurance, as an entitlement. Second, most people receive health insurance as an employment benefit. Obamacare mandated that employers over a certain size provide such benefits. That mandate has been removed. Therefore, one should expect employers to eliminate such benefits and force workers into the individual policy market. The limitations for individual policies were described in the first point. Third, the indigent are covered by Medicaid. Medicaid is administered by the states but the states are reimbursed by the federal government based on the services they administer. Medicaid will be capped. States will receive block grants that will bear little relation to their Medicaid expenses. Those currently under Medicaid can continue receiving their benefits. However, the cap will prevent more people from receiving Medicaid assistance once it becomes enacted (after the 2020 election.) I trust you see an emerging pattern of reduced health care coverage. |

The bill consists almost entirely of amendments and adds precious little new text.2. Just like with ObamaCare. 3. No, it benefits red states who hardly offer Medicaid at all vs. the blue states that actually raise the government's revenue. Thank you Electoral College. |

That,s because it either ignores or smply continues (such as the pages and pages of documentation related to service requirements, which are all to be continued) much of the existing ACA.What this does is make insurance unaffordable for millions. It eliminates much of the funding stream for Medicre, which was effectively folded i to the ACA as well. All that will remain there is the existing FICA tax which means we'll be back to bankruptcy and cuts cuts cuts once again. Republicans claim they love Aamerica but they seem perfectly fine with killing Americans. Which is the end result of all this. |

When Obama care was introduced, it shifted the paradigm. Suddenly, healthcare became a right to be provided by government. This certainly was never the intent of the founding fathers. Sadly, it now has become part of the American fabric. The slippery part of the slope is "what next"? Do we have universal home owner insurance? Universal life insurance? Universal car insurance? Where will it end? Perhaps universal food & beverages? Hmmm. |
