So what will Obama do before inauguration day?

There are a lot of rumors and speculation, hope and/or fear as to what Obama might do between now and leaving office.

Among them:
** Make a recess appointment to the Supreme Court;
** Make agreements with foreign powers that Trump would have to battle or undo early in his administration;
** Recognize "Palestine";
** Support action in the United Nations that would hobble Israel;
** Pardon Hillary as a preventive (as in Ford/Nixon);
** Pardon Bowe Bergdahl.

These are all things I've heard of with no opinion on their validity. The one that really puzzles me is Bowe Bergdahl. I can't imagine why Obama would possibly want to do that.

Opinions? Support or oppose any of these? Know any others?

And which of these (if any) do you think he will really do or attempt?

Any recess appointment to SCOTUS would very likely be undone ASAP. And I can't see BO recognizing Palestine - he knows Trump would probably respond by moving our embassy to Jerusalem which would send up the balloon there, and I don't think BO wants that to be his legacy.

Moving the American Embassy to the part of Jerusalem that has been continuously in Israel since 1948 is the law, postponable by the President. If Trump doesn't let it happen, he will have to explain why.

A pardon has to be accepted, and the acceptance is an acknowledgement of guilt. I can't imagine Hillary accepting.

Your paranoia about Obama and Israel is a pretty clear example of ODS. Obama has pretty much continued the policies of his predecessors. You are mixing him up with Bernie Sanders, who is not president.

I provided discussion about one part of the topic that doesn't reflect paranoia on your part.

I know nothing about Bergdahl. I agree that would sound strange.

The part you initially commented on (Hillary pardon) didn't really answer whether you thought Obama might or should do it; simply that you didn't think she'd accept it. She can't accept or refuse it if it's not offered.

If he were inclined to offer it, he would first call her up and ask her if she'd accept. No way he would issue the pardon and then watch her refuse it. That struck me as a conclusion so obvious as to not need stating.

The conclusion is obvious, but maybe I should have asked "Do you think it's something he would want to do." If Hillary is worried enough now that's she's fallen from power she might go for it.

And there is an easy public pronouncement if she did accept it: "I'm absolutely innocent, but not knowing how vindictive Republicans are, I'm keeping them from continuing to persecute me."
