And even more:"Average hourly wages rose 12 cents to $25.39, and are up 2.5% the past year, possibly reflecting an acceleration as the labor market tightens. In another encouraging sign, the average work week edged up to 34.6 hours from 34.5 hours. Employers typically increase the hours of existing workers before adding new ones." |

The net monthly gains are probably gonna end up slowing down because almost everyone who wants a job already has one.Another good statistic from last month is that more people are quitting their current jobs in favor of better ones. This is pushing up wages. Thank you Mr. President. |

Posted by WayneJay on Fri Feb 5 16:47:39 2016, in response to Re: Unemployment Rate Down to 4.9%, posted by AlM on Fri Feb 5 14:40:19 2016. Right. I'm very thankful that I didn't have the misfortune of losing my job during those times. However, I can only imagine the thoughts of some of the millions who did lose their jobs at the time when the battle was on about extending unemployment benefits. So a person has lost their job, gone through savings, cashed in their 401k, and about to run out of money. Yet the bills are still there, family needs to eat etc. Then we have the GOP's solution to cut taxes, then those (wealthy and large companies) benefiting will eventually start spending/investing which in turn would create jobs, and problem solved. All of this to avoid extending unemployment benefits, as that also would make the recipients lazy/dependent on that gravy train and they wouldn't look for another job. So, the person is down on their luck, has to wait for tax cuts and the benefits to trickle down along with their representives essentially saying they can't be trusted with unemployment benefits. Nice! |

For that matter, didn't the idiot who owns Papa John's "pizza" claim his Obamacare expenditures would cause him to hike prices by a significant amount? I guess coming from the owner of a company that more than likely avoids paying its employees minimum wage that's to be expected. |
