The region in parts has become more arid since. Traditional agricultural techniques do need to change, agreed, yet economic disruption does figure in strongly to the problems we're seeing. Israel has had a stable government system since its inception, other states in the region have seen instability as a norm, which is a cause among many for economic disruption, so I would not cite them as an example. |
