INTERESTING FACT: The Constitution does not require that the Speaker of the House actually be a member of the House.

Knowing that makes this ad that much more funny.

Mark Takano is a Democrat. So thanks for saying the Dems are "desperate".

Where did I say that? The Democratic Party are the ones looking to save the country by posting the ad. The republicans don't seem to be in any hurry, having blown off the best chance they had.

If the Democrats could get enough republicans onboard, we could be getting it done with Speaker Pelosi. IMO, that is the happiest of outcomes.

McCarthy was their best chance? LOL! The best chance is to get a bunch of moderate Republicans to elect one of their own as Speaker in exchange for Democratic votes. A coalition government that shuts out the Teabag Party.

If there were moderate republicans in Congress that would likely be done already.

The best chance is to get a bunch of moderate Republicans to elect one of their own as Speaker in exchange for Democratic votes.

I keep wondering about that. They keep saying 40 right wingers could sink McCarthy because he couldn't get 218 votes. But can't 30 Republicans from districts that Democrats occasionally win say enough already, and demand a more moderate leader, who would get elected with some Democratic votes to replace the 40 Republicans he can't get?

Of course, when that happened in NY in 1965 it didn't particularly result in good government.
