Feeding America's Vulnerable

5 part stack including intro.

I could say so much about the mother. Typical rich vs. poor CNN crap.

The real issue is the quality of the foods they're eating. Oh man.

Precisely!

One of the biggest problems in poor nabes is that because all of the cuts to TANF and other food programs, they depend heavily on "food banks" which have food and other products that were donated. Overwhelmingly, their shelves consist of some of the most gawd-awful canned and boxed crap that nobody in their right mind would want to eat. But largely, that's all they've got. :(

One of the most useful programs in many cities, and especially around here is trucks that deliver actual vegetables and fruit and other nutritional food from farms. There are many of these as volunteer efforts in urban areas, and we need a whole lot MORE of these.

Many of the local supermarkets in poor areas and the corner stores just don't have the shelf space to carry real, nutritional food, it can spoil quickly and there's not much markup to it. Therefore even these resources don't have enough real food for the community on their shelves either. That's a serious issue.

Didn't bother to watch the talking neck show you linked to, but know the situation and have seen how our local farmers help to contribute here, and have seen similar in many other American cities as well from folks in the community who know the situation and have taken it upon themselves to DO something about it. God bless them!

i guess there are no food stores because they get robbed, so only bigger supermarkets that can afford police are around.

Fred G should bring them food from his garden.

Heh. I had faith you'd go there. :)

Pity you never lived in the Bronx. Bodegas aren't new. Those small corner stores really didn't have room, and that's what the hoods depend on for "need it now."

And yeah, in downtown Albany, the "Price Chopper" on Delaware Avenue was known for decades as "Ghetto Chopper" and it was somewhat fortified because of that rep. It wasn't a very big store either. That's the problem in poor areas, it isn't the crime that republicans wag at, it's "inner city" and rents are insane. You can't open a 10,000 sq ft "Sam's Club" with rents being what they are "downtown."

And so you end up with nothing but overpriced, shitty stores and they might take "food stamps" but there really ain't much for food in them. :(

Now SLAP yourself for that.

The poor should eat eggs in misery like they do in my country.

Yes, it's low quality. So what? If the poor wanted better food, they shouldn't be poor.

thanks for attacking.

Can always count on you for that.

So yeah, so much debate about food. I consume 150 grams of carbohydrates a day.

I'm no Senator! I own the Senate!

Now that the Nationals have taken over, the Senate is my last line of defense against their far-left agenda. They've been in power for a month and already they're negotiating how best to destroy the job creators like me.

By the way, I'd be happy to export eggs to America for a nominal fee... say, 90 American cents per box of 27? Humans can eat them too and they'd feed your poor easily. I'm told you can even refine them into a sort of biofuel— humans can't eat blackfat but if you can get it to burn it has more than twice the energy density of gasoline.

i think this woman should have had at least 1 or 2 abortions.

Look at her! She must weight 350.

It was totally irresponsible of her to give life to the youngest. That's for sure. So why no outrage? Liberals always cry about reproductive rights, but never get mad when those who should exercise those rights wisely, don't.
