Have you ever been to PNC Park in Pittsburgh? (home of the Pirates)

Seems like a nice park, I may try to go one day.

Sorry for not answering right away, but the last time I was in Pittsburgh, Three Rivers Stadium was still standing and PCC cars were running in the subway there.

That is a long time. I was just wondering.

I passed by Pittsburgh in August 1980. My mom and I had been driving from L. A. to NYC, and the last place we stopped before NY was Pittsburgh. More accurately, a Ramada Inn by the Pittsburgh airport. Man, that place is way out in the sticks! The next day, we are heading east, and I'm wondering if we are ever going to actually get to Pittsburgh, then we enter this tunnel which leads directly to a bridge which was over one of the rivers (not sure which one), and I see Three Rivers off to the left.

Actually, looking at Google Maps, we were crossing the Monongahela River, then turned east onto I-376. I guess the PCCs were still running in 1980, though the LRVs would be coming a few years after that.

That would be the Fort Pitt Tunnel. Tragically, situated on the banks of the Monongahela immediately east of the tunnel sits cavernous Highmark Stadium which seats 3500. Said facility is home to the Pittsburgh Greyhounds who play in something called the United S-ccer League which is the quote third tier of the American S-ccer Pyramid unquote. I went through that tunnel a couple weeks ago and stayed in the Triangle with a view of that quote stadium unquote. For some reason, the Greyhounds host the Tampa Bay Rowdies, which is not even in the same league, in a fixture tomorrow evening. The Rowdies play in the NASL which is the quote second tier of the American S-ccer Pyramid unquote. Apparently, the Greyhounds need to bring in vapor lights run off generators to illuminate the place. Sadly, when United Van Lines sends me to Tampa it usually puts me up in a hotel in St. Petersburg directly across the street from Al Lang Stadium which is home to the Tampa Bay Rowdies - I once counted exactly 31 people in the stands watching a game against the Carolina RailHawks. The whole thing makes no sense.

Before entering the tunnel at its southwest end, one sees a commonplace view of Western Pennsylvania's rolling green hills, but upon exiting at the northeast end, one sees a spectacular view of Pittsburgh's skyline, cited by the New York Times as "the best way to enter an American city
