Yes I have and while it's pretty tasty overall, it's not as good as the flat neopolitan style pie that's served in NYC. Even if I did think it was better, I'd want to have it in Chicago and not NYC. |

As far away as you can get from midtown (42/Broadway). The farther out you go, the better it gets. Midtown is all tourista traps owned by the likes of Pepsi. Greenwich Village, Lower East side, better yet Bronx or Brooklyn. |

You could be overwhelmed with answers to that one :)Right off the top of my head I have 2 I can vouch for in the same neighborhood in Brooklyn. One is Smiling Pizza, a slice place that's right upstairs from the F train at 7th Av/9th Street. Another is around the block at 7th Av between 10th and 11th St called Pizza Plus. They don't do slices IIRC but the pizza is delicious. There are more but I don't remember their names, just "that place near Borough Hall" or "that place upstairs from Newkirk Plaza" I'm sure others will chime in, especially natives. your pal, Fred |

Been away from there for too long to know what's still around. But Napoli Pizza at the D train terminal at 204th and Bainbridge is still there. Sadly, as NYC got too expensive for the real pizza joints a long time ago, quite a few of them moved up here to Albany. Brooklyn Pizza in Guilderland is one of those and every bit as good as it was in the 60's. |

Google it. You might draw the line at Calamari, but the best places serve the real deal and the pizza is well worth it. If the joint only sells pizza and a coke, you might want to keep walking. :) |

There is a great local chain in St. Louis started by two brothers who grew up in Throggs Neck and a great pizzeria close to where I live now owned and run by a guy whose family first opened a pizzeria in NY in the 1950's. They had one down near the WTC for years as well as one on Roosevelt Island. |

The last 3 stops on the Lefferts A were still very much an Italian neignborhood in the late 60s and early 70s. Our Lady of Perpetual Help and Gate of Heaven had 6 overflowing masses each weekend. |
