My guess is that he has declared himself a non-resident for the time being so that he isn't subject to US income tax. Then if you aren't a resident and aren't in the military, you can't legally vote, can you? US citizens owe US Income Tax on their worldwide income no matter where in the world they live -- so I still pay plenty of income tax to the US. As a citizen, I know I can technically vote -- and I think I would vote as an absentee in New York because that was my last state of residence -- but I haven't really bothered to figure out the rules. |

Yep.My dad still has to file every year even though he really hasn't resided here since 1979. but I haven't really bothered to figure out the rules. If your registration has expired, just re-register in your last county of residence under your last address. This can be done online. Then you get a ballot. |
