Global Slavery Index 2013—anyone read it?

At an estimated 29.8 million enslaved, it's the highest number in history. And growing, not shrinking. It's also more than double the entire number of Africans that were brought to the New World (not just the USA, but both North and South America).

At an estimated 7 billion, we've got the highest population in history.

The prevalence of slavery (ie, the percentage of the population which is enslaved) is at an all-time low.

That said, I'd like to see exactly how they define slavery. Thanks to your conservative friends' War On Drugs, a full 1% of America's population is in prison and a substantial percentage of American prisoners are subjected to forced labour— is that counted?

Seems like you're trying to justify slavery. And you don't seem to have the percent of world population enslaved during the early 1800s, so you're just making a blanket statement.

Aw come on, you can do better than that. Hope you enjoy swimming back from the Island of Conclusions. :)
