Tto clarify...women in Islamic states have the right to vote and exercise the franchise. In keeping with the custom of seemingly every culture (the practice of separation of the sexes) in the region, alternate sites where they vote are set up and actually don't see the media coverage as the male news crews are kept away. Aside from Saudi, they also drive.. Millions hold jobs outside the home, own and run businesses (excluding Saudi, where women hire managers usually but not exclusively )Education is limited in isolated cases, and even there the result is universal outcry. Look at the international outrage over the Nigerian girls.Sharia law pertains mostly to family issues such as marriage and divorce, child custody, inheritance, etc. No judgment, I don't want to get involved in discussing this, as I expect what I would say would become instantly twisted and completely miscomprehended. Just wanted to share some facts since some of what you posted is, well, misguided and in error. That being said, genital cutting of either sex is misguided and IMO unhealthy, especially in females. Nor does Islam support it. That's just plain old repressive behavior. It's gotta be stopped globally. |
