OK, maybe I'm just more tolerant and/or less prone to butthurt but I don't see the problem with this. Why should being the site of an atrocity somehow preclude the taking of photographs of oneself or in general? Photography at Auschwitz is hardly a bad thing in and of itself— Allied commanders anticipated the Holocaust deniers and so ordered that photos be taken as the camps were liberated. |

Guess what would've happened if some "mean" person came around while the photo was in progress and told her not to do it.If anything this just shows that death is not understood. What do they teach? There was one(that's if there's no muslims in the class of course), and that there's a camp. It's not humanized. if anything there should have been an immersive exhibit where students are forced to "simulate" life in the camps and then see if a selfie and a smile will ever be done. Otherwise, since it's Auschwitz, it's as acceptable as texting and giggling(while being the news reporter crew) during a Survivors lecture that I witnessed this summer. Neither of which would be accepted at anything Sharpton takes part in. |
