Not that you'll ever be accused of confusing the issue with facts but the gun murders per 100,000 in Kansas are 2.2 while in NY it's 2.7. |

Possibly even lower now for Kansas. For example, Colorado is open carry and their gun murders per 100,000 inhabitants is 1.3 vs. 2.7 for NY. Kentucky is OC and tied with NY but Arizona is higher at 3.6. Montana is 1.2 but Nevada is 3.1. Ohio is also tied with NY. It remains to be seen whether or not open carry will increase or decrease the gun murder rate. |

You disagree with statistics? There is also the converse that being able to shoot to disarm someone with a gun will prevent the criminal from shooting more people. What the data tells me is that there is more than just having guns that leads to increases in gun violence when restrictions are lifted. Would be interested to see if there is some correlation between drug use and whether the rates increase or decrease when there are more guns |

Chad Sublet, attorney for the city of Topeka, said he is still reviewing the bill.Like Eckert, he said he didn’t believe it would have much effect on current city ordinances. But it would prevent the city from enacting gun-related statutes in the future. “At first glance it appears it definitely preempts most everything we could do as a city,” Sublet said. As violence increases, the city will be unable to do anything about it. That's a concern. |

Chad Sublet IS NOT the Mayor of Topeka. He is the city's Attorney. Also, you are making a big assumption about violence increasing especially since the statistics show that in some places it went down when more lax laws were passed. This leads me to believe that there is more than just the number of guns at play in determining whether the rate will go up or down |

But your answer is wrong. All Canada homicides per 100K: 1.6 Canada gun homicides: 0.5 Difference: 1.1 All US: 4.8 US gun: 3.6 Difference: 1.2 So the non-gun homicide rates are very close, but the gun homicide rate in the US is 7 times as much. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_firearm-related_death_rate http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_intentional_homicide_rate |

That's probably because of us up here. Once again, I live upstate. Guns are OK here once you learn how to use them properly. NYC may have different attitudes, so don't pin those on me.Still ... Kansas has been heading crazier and crazier over the years, know the territory well. Ashcroft is from there as is the Faith Assemblies. It's a perfect place for the right, and perhaps it needs more folks who are unhappy with their lives here. Unless you want Olog and friends to move to Texas that is.
