When you put in wanted ads on LinkedIn and other places, replies come from everywhere in the world. What we need people for is SO rare (kernel coders and device driver writers for BSD) that often we only get one or two offers from the entire planet. I've got a couple of people here, but most are in places where the kids actually learn such complex math. Here in the states, we're too busy teaching them bicycle safety and the bible. Neither of which teaches how to write code in Haskell.Blame the internet. FWIW though, only two Hispanics on payroll. |

Let's make that problem even MORE fun. Here in the US, cryptography is illegal to teach until Obama made it OK. As a result of crypto being declared "munitions" there is nobody here yet who can do proper crypto code. We were the ONLY nation left that prohibited this. So I have three guys in Haifa and one who came over here from Spain that do that because they learned it in grade school and sharpened their skills at Uni.Perfect example of our lost brain trust is that whole "heartbleed" thing with TLS/SSL encryption. Bad code for nearly ten years now and nobody knew enough about it to spot the error in it until the Russkies did. Can't hire when there ain't talent here. |
