BMW Success In South Carolina |
|
Posted by Train Dude on Fri Dec 28 01:38:39 2012 After opening their plant in South Carolina, BMW reports that they are exceeding employment and production goals. . This is great news because it was predicted that BMW would abandon the south and move to Detroit because some said that the people at the South Carolina plant were "under educated" and untrainable. |

No other points being argued. Someone said BMW was pulling out of South Carolina, and it's the opposite.I do have to say that AP is whining about the state's "public money" being thrown about, which is quite out of character for them. It's way less than what GM got, that's for sure, and BMW's been putting far more of its own money in . . . and the tax breaks are also helping them stay (whoops, the libs forgot about that one). Perfect capitalistic success story? Nobody said anything of the sort. Just that BMW ain't pulling out of SC. BMW ain't pulling out of SC. BMW ain't pulling out of SC. BMW ain't pulling out of SC. BMW ain't pulling out of SC. BMW ain't pulling out of SC. BMW ain't pulling out of SC. BMW ain't pulling out of SC. BMW ain't pulling out of SC. BMW ain't pulling out of SC. Look into it ... you'd go even more batshit than you already are knowing that BMW is getting oodles of state AND federal tax dollars so that the taxpayer equips them with what they want already trained for the menial tasks. That's how your favorite Germans solved the problem here. And here you are LOVING the Germans for it.You little Hypocrite. Got Train Dude on your shoes, brah? |

I can only imagine how selkook is trying to spin the issue. He has a knack for dishonesty and irrelevancy in his debating. The facts remains:BMW is still in South Carolina and is succeeding. The OP who claimed that BMW would leave South Carolina was wrong. The OP who claimed that the people in South Carolina are under educated was wrong. The OP who claimed that the people of South Carolina are untrainable was wrong. |

But SC taxpayers seem to have ponied up a lot of money. "Hundreds of millions of dollars" in return for 7,000 jobs. Let's say that's $210 million - so $30,000 for every job created. |

Per capita income in Greenville and Spartanburg counties has risen barely more rapidly than the rate of inflation in the last decade, according to U.S. Census figures. The poverty level in both places has increased, and BMW and related industries couldn’t push the state from recession, as unemployment soared past 11 percent three years ago." |
