Posted by Nilet on Sat May 25 01:29:12 2013 fiogf49gjkf0d Teach me to get a dodgy used Mac that's surprisingly cheap. :( Two days and 11 (and counting) kernel panics later and I have to spend Sunday schlepping 30 lbs of metal and silicon down to a genius bar. I've already replaced everything except the logic board (and the fans, fingers crossed) so here's hoping for a cheap repair. You know, it's been really quiet so maybe it is the fans. I should probably replace them before I take it downtown.

Turns out that Apple insists on contacting mommy on IPV6 to "authenticate that it's a genuine fruit and not a vegetable" ... no IPV6 support from cable company here, so can't contact mommy. Therefore, no wifi. I'm ready to turn this piece of SHIT into a wheel chock. :(

Fruitphones need IPV6 to talk to mommy, Cookie man's idea of forcing carriers to adopt IPV6. So no IPV6 support in the router, no ticket from the monitoring servers in Fruitville, no intertubes for you until the RIAA can assign IPV6 addresses to your music. Apple crap connects, but does nothing since it can't get the "authorization token" from Fruitville. Apple won't tell you why, they insist that you just keep resetting your network or better yet, factory reset and resync everything. That buys you four minutes of timeout when IPV6 isn't there and then it's back to the Apple circle jerk again. Here's the skinny:

I've done "groin" phones and they're as bad as windows for security and functionality. But now that Steve's dead, Apple is rapidly going to shit and nobody cares.
