It was proven that the city's school system discriminated through social promotion and graduated functional illiterates. Then they could not succeed in the exam. It was the fault of the city for having dome this. They are within their rights to ensure they are not excluded from promotion now, as it was the city's ed program that failed them.That is why the appeals judge threw out the exam results. The rest is the "I got mine so FU" typical of republicans. It's the same sentiment that allowed the situation in New Haven to exist. Had every kid in New Haven been provided with a decent education, those firefighters would have all done well in the exam. |
