Did you ever open a can of worms.I won't even go into the complexity of copyright law. Digital media has made the issue much more complicated, as with music CD publishers who don't want you to sell your legally purchased music CD. Nor the issue of the validity of the license you have with the New York Times which allows them to place contact (e.g., a cookie) on your personal computer, or prohibit you from deleting it. But let's just consider the moral implication. I delete a cookie in order to read an article in the New York Times (not copy, transmit, or otherwise convey to others outside of the bounds of fair use) for the purpose of making a scholarly political point on SubChat for the edification of my fellow scholars, Bingbong, Olog and SMAZ. I have committed a moral crime. Now The New York Times is given explicit access to materials covered by the espionage laws of the United States and other countries by Julian Assange, a person not entitled to have or disseminate those materials and they self-righteously publish it, because it's there and they can.
