Her statements on the Zimmerman's history of bigotry go to George's state of mind on the night of Trayvon's killing. Her statements on Zimmerman's alleged pedophilia go to (among other things) his character and credibility, and perhaps even a motive--beyond the Martin killing--for tucking away that second passport and scheming with his wife to hide his true finances from the court. He had to know this was going to come to light, eventually.The evidence of pedophilia is entirely inadmissible unless the State decides to charge him with that. Beyond that, the prosecution is not permitted to bring character evidence against a defendant unless the defendant testifies as to his own character. The defendant is, of course, not required to testify. |
