It's a sequestered fund designed to be dipped into only by the attorney engaged in the legal defense. We've done this before and know the rules. You're not allowed to touch that money at all. And anything left over MUST be returned to the donators at the end. You don't get a penny from it.

Which may explain why they "lied". They didn't think it was money they had access to for personal use. The Zimmerman's probably thought they were supposed to show personal assets.
