Refusing consent to search in these situations will often result in a police dog being brought to the scene.

You don't need to wait for the dog to show up. If it's an unreasonable amount of time for a K9 unit to arrive (since they don't often have one handy) and the police have nothing to hold you on, you can leave. Repeatedly asking if you're free to go is important.

The dog will inevitably "alert" to the presence of drugs in thr car, usually in the front of the vehicle, where the handler's subtle hand signals to the dog don't get picked up by a dash cam. Voila! Instant probable cause to search the car, and grab the cash as "drug proceeds".
