Posted by Nabinut on Wed Apr 11 16:35:47 2012 Note: This is not characteristic of all Jewish people...just an example of some of the ones in my neighborhood. While walking back from the local grocery store with five heavy shopping bags, a guy dressed in a grey sweatsuit and running shoes with a hoodie on his head across the street starts eyeing me.(His appearance in any other area would be several suspicious for 4 o'clock in the afternoon.) As I'm walking almost parallel to him, he continues to eye me like I'm going to run across 6 lanes of rush hour traffic with five heavy bags to rob him or worse. So I decided to play with him. I stopped at the bus stop near my apartment and looked like I was about to cross the street so he stopped and pretended to stretch his legs then I let him get ahead of me. I continued walking as he kept looking until I turned to go to my apartment. It's amazing that after five years of living in this heavily mixed but Jewish-leaning area of Baltimore that I still get the occassional glares and reactions like the ones this guy gave me. |
