Back when I was in the biz the waiters I worked with made $2.30 an hour (MW was $4.50) AND they were taxed on an estimated amount of tips assumed they were to receive. Since I made food deliveries, I was paid MW and every tip I got was tax free. The summer of 1989 I was making more in tips (sometimes $40 a day) than I made in salary ($180 a week).Cheapest bastards out there? Dancers. Everytime I delivered to the ABT at 890 Broadway, I never got more than metal (basically was told to keep change up to next dollar). |
