I want to visit Quebec City and observe life in a large North American city (pop. ~500,000) that consists of almost 100% French Canadians.

US 201 -> QC 173 -> A-73 You will know that you're there when you cross the fake looking imitation of the Throgs Neck Bridge.

I've actually visited, and IIRC, there are some small numbers of white immigrants, you'll definitely stand out, with a few presuming that you're a visitor from Montreal, but you're unlikely to get the "what are you doing here stare". My aunt's friend lives up there and tolerates being isolated from the rest of the Haitian community in Canada and likes living up there, and in theory, I wouldn't mind living up there, but I could think of other places that I would choose first before moving there. I suspect that the weather scares everybody away as the economy isn't abysmal up there...
