Yes, and to be fair something changed between the generation before that and that one. Or maybe it was just the contrast of going to war against the Japanese — who had attacked the USA — and their allies, coupled of course with a generally warm attitude toward Britain, and a hopeless war against guerillas in some pissant country that few had heard of.But this social attitude has continued since then. Michael Moore was very irritating when he went around asking Congressmen whether their sons had signed up to go to Iraq, but the social attitude he was trying to get at is the same. |
