Those who are now owed their "entitlements" PAID for them over their entire lifespans. That a certain party and their financiers have broken the social contract for their own benefit doesn't change that. Up until Reagan, America had a coherent and successful social contract with all of its citizens until it was broken up by the greed of a small number of people. From then on, this small group has stolen from the rest of the nation for their own benefit. The generations about to collect did pay, and the fund was solvent until it was raided for giveaways that should never have been done in the first place.

Not that any of this helps the situation that we're in now, but those who benefited from the theft should be made to pay back their "loan" ... it's not like ordinary people are allowed to renege on their debts because "we're broke." That buys them nothing. Same should apply to government. If the government doesn't have the money, then it behooves them to "earn" more until the debts are paid.

I understand this is a bit extreme on my part, but then again, when I hear people say "just take it all away, where's my tax cut?" it pissed me off a bit.
